Our Coutances Tourisme team’s rankings are not exhaustive, of course, as there are many other beaches that are well worth a visit and perfect for a day at the beach, swimming and relaxing!

1 - Jonville

And here comes our 1st place for the most beautiful beaches in La Manche: Jonville beach in Réville in the east of the Cotentin peninsula.

A very long beach facing due south, where you can soak up all the sun’s rays all day long. It’s a large beach with fine, almost white sand. Crystal-clear turquoise water mingles with the white sand… a picture-postcard landscape!

Le Goéland 1951, at the end of the beach, is the place to be for a drink and a bite to eat with your feet almost in the water and a breathtaking view over the bay of Saint-Vaast La Hougue.

There’s no doubt you’ll be won over!

2 - Annoville

Our top 2 most beautiful beaches have arrived!

At our destination, Annoville beach is number 2 in our list of the most beautiful beaches. It ‘s a very natural beach, where you won’t find many people and where you can enjoy the peace and quiet and wide-open spaces. Magnificent dunes almost as far as the eye can see (classified dune area) that border a very pleasant sandy beach. Incredible sunsets.

If you love beautiful natural beaches and magnificent scenery, this is the beach for you!

3 - Hattainville

We’re entering the top 3 of our beach selection!

This magnificent beach at Hattainville, very large and very wild, is located to the north of Barneville Carteret, past the Semaphore and past the beach where you can see the old church, well known to walkers, in the dunes.

Bordered by the Hattainville dunes (which are themselves quite a curiosity/discovery), it is natural and has translucent waters that invite you to swim.
It is very popular with surfers, as there are often good waves and a fair amount of current, but it is not supervised, so you need to be careful.

A magnificent natural area for lovers of wide open spaces and raw nature!

4 - Hauteville-sur-Mer

Just a few minutes from Coutances, discover the welcoming, family-friendly seaside resort of Hauteville-sur-Mer. Generations of people have come here. The large sandy beach is perfect for swimming, water sports and more. The promenade is perfect for a stroll and shops are close by. Supervised swimming in summer. It’s a large, beautiful beach, perfect for seaside activities.

5 - Carolles

Carolles beach is located in the Granvillais region, in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. It is bordered by the cliffs of Carolles, where you can enjoy many walks. Attractive bathing cabins line the beach, giving it a family beach atmosphere. Swimming is supervised in summer. There are a few shops nearby for a drink or a bite to eat.

6 - Sciotot

Sciotot beach is located in the commune of Les Pieux in the Cotentin region. Thewater is crystal-clear, with turquoise tones that are perfect for swimming. With lifeguards on duty in summer, it’s a popular beach with surfers. An exceptional bathing spot, it is also an ideal spot for surfing and a wide range of water sports. A playground is located nearby.

7 - Carteret

At the far end of the commune, in Carteret, Plage de la Potinière is a beautiful sandy beach in a cove, surmounted by a cliff at the top of which is the semaphore. This renowned seaside resort is very welcoming. The fine sand that makes up the beach gives the water a turquoise appearance. The pretty blue and white beach huts give the place a great holiday atmosphere.

8 - Gouville-sur-Mer

Gouville-sur-Mer is one of La Manche’s best-known beaches, thanks to its little beach huts with colourful roofs. An immense stretch of fine sand with a view of the oyster bedsat low tide. Dunes and cabins line the beach in the background, with a view of the Sénéquet lighthouse opposite.

9 - Siouville

In the Cotentin region, Siouville beach stands out for its wild side. A vast, natural beach with fine sand. The beach is bordered by a green hill, giving it a distinctive look. It is very popular with surfers and stand-up paddleboarders. It is usually supervised in summer.

10 - Saint Jean Le Thomas

This vast beach boasts a not inconsiderable asset: its distant view of the majestic Mont-Saint-Michel.
A rather wild and extensive beach. Pretty beach huts line the sand, adding a touch of character.
