Where can you admire this natural spectacle in summer?

We love: Focus on a few places to admire magnificent sunsets.

When the sun sets over the horizon, the magic happens, enveloping our magnificent landscapes in a golden glow and creating breathtaking natural scenes. With its privileged location between the sea and the bocage, our region offers a multitude of places to watch spectacular sunsets.

In this article, we invite you to discover some of the places in Coutances mer et bocage, where you can marvel at panoramas that are both poetic and grandiose.

There’s no need to travel to the other side of the world to admire magnificent sunsets !

From east to west, on all sides, what better time than summer to watch the sun set in our beautiful region. Situated between the sea and the bocage countryside, you’ll be amazed by the diversity and tranquillity of our landscapes.

Here are five of our favourites, not to be missed at dusk!

# - The Gouville cabins

Nestling in the heart of the dunes at Gouville-sur-Mer, you’ll be charmed by this soothing spot ! Around 70 beach huts with colourful roofs face the sea in the middle of this wild place!

A veritable rainbow of colours, guaranteed to make your eyes pop when the sun goes down!

# - The Annoville dunes

France’s first listed dune site, the Annoville dunes are a real little corner of paradise in our region. In the midst of the flora and fauna, you can enjoy a moment of rejuvenation!

Whether you’re walking along the customs path or even enjoying a picnic with friends, you’ll be amazed when the sun sets. You can also take advantage of this time to discreetly observe the birds in this protected natural area.

# 3 - La Poulette - Agon-Coutainville

Situated at the end of the Agon-Coutainville breakwater on the Blainville-sur-mer side, you’ll be able to spot this little hut known as “La Poulette” .

Resistant to numerous storms since 1926, you can capture some magnificent shots at sunset, with the colours changing with the tides.

#4 - Regnéville-sur-Mer

This ancient fishing village surrounded by the harbour of La Sienne is a real haven of peace.

You’ll be seduced by the charm of this village with its old stone walls and salt meadows!

Take a walk along the customs path, have a coffee at the little station or even have a picnic on the edge of the harbour to admire the magnificent scenery as the sun sets.

#5 - Archaeological site of Gavray-sur-Sienne castle

Perched at the top of a hill overlooking the town and the Sienne valley, the archaeological site of the ducal castle of Gavray-sur-Sienne offers an exceptional view of the bocage.

In the heart of this ancient fortress, now no more than ruins, you’ll find panels explaining the castle’s history.

Don’t hesitate to climb to the very top and take the time to admire the sun setting over our unspoilt countryside!
